The Macallan Lalique Steam Train 36 year old Golden Age of Travel, 1937 (1x 700ml) Region: Speyside Label: engraved labelling Packaging: in bespoke leather presentation case Alcohol content: 43.8% volume Notes: The Golden Age of Travel. First Bottled 1973, Re-bottled 2017. Distilled and bottled by The Macallan Distillers Ltd., Easter Elchies, Craigellachie. Bottle no. 39 of 50. In Lalique Crystal decanter. Accompanied with crystal stopper. Footnotes: Rail travel in the 1930s reflected a more gracious, elegant age defined by luxury. The train companies projected the mystique and allure of the journey in ways that simply weren't about speed, but promised adventure, first class service and breathtaking scenery for their discerning passengers. Deep russet red in colour exploding with rich and oily flavour of spice, toasted oak, Seville oranges and rose oil. This sensuous natural colour suggests a higher proportion of second fill Spanish oak sherry-seasoned casks supported by American oak due to the shortage of casks during the years of Spanish Civil War. Over the years this whisky has developed a unique character, defined by a vibrancy of flavours on the palate.
