Historical context A stunning telephoto view of the rugged far side lunar terrain near Crater Keeler. Captured with the Hasselblad 500EL and 250mm telephoto lens, this photograph showcases a sharply defined, steep-walled crater approximately 12 miles in diameter (6° S / 158° E), surrounded by a desolate expanse of lunar badlands. Rubble, likely ejecta material, is visible along its outer slopes. Above it, a larger, more subdued crater adds to the dramatic landscape. Apollo 10's extended time in lunar orbit allowed for unprecedented observations, including this detailed image of a previously unphotographed segment of the Moon.
