Publisher's white cloth lettered in black and red, dust jacket designed by Ernst Reichl printed in black and red. Top edges of front and rear panel of jacket creased, spine panel darkened, light wear to edges, foxing to cloth. FIRST AUTHORIZED AMERICAN EDITION of Joyce's masterpiece, in first issue jacket with 'Reichl' credit to upper panel. The 1934 edition includes the text of the legal opinion which paved the way for Ulysses and other controversial titles to be published in America. Slocum & Cahoon A21. WITH: Advance publications announcement for Ulysses, issued by Random House, February 1, 1933. 4 pp. Publisher's self-wrappers, Random House order form slip (blank) loosely inserted. WITH: Ulysse. Buyers' Premium and Charges

28% on the first $50,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $50,000 up to and including $1,000,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $1,000,000 up to and including $6,000,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of $6,000,000.
