Gagosh (Giorgi) Gagoshidze (Georgian, born 1986) Untitled, 2025 mixed media on gypsum height: 11 cm (4 5/16 in). Footnotes: Provenance Private collection, Georgia Gagosh is the pseudonym of a Tbilisi, Georgia-based street artist who creates stencils, installations, street poetry and mosaics. His works protest social issues such as the shortage of green space in Tbilisi, labour rights, unemployment, air pollution, social stigmas, the inconvenience of Tbilisi streets for disabled people, exceeded politics and lack of love in society. 'A city is a living organism, and if anything keeps it alive, it is, first and foremost, the ordinary people who make it unique. Take, for example, the elderly woman who sells balloons year-round, the woman lingering at a café for her morning coffee on her way to work, or the chess players in the park, staring intently at the board. Nearby, a man is buried in his newspaper. On a crowded street, a woman sells flowers. A street musician cries out to the wind, his song scattering into the city's hum. A girl dashes to school. These moments come together to create the city- space painted with the colors of life against a dark canvas, infused with movement and rhythm, yet beneath its vibrant facade, quietly holding its struggles and hardships. This project aims to create large sculptures and place them along the city's bustling streets. These sculptures will become part of the city's everyday life—splashed with color, covered in graffiti and poetry. They will invite people to leave their own inscriptions, to share their stories, to see and be seen. They are replicas of ordinary people, the very essence of the city itself.'
