A George IV silver jug William Bateman I, London 1823 The domed cover with shell thumb-piece, the body of urn form with later applied arms to the upper section above a lobed and stiff-leaf decorated lower section, with acanthus leaf cap scrolled handle, the whole raised on a circular spreading foot, height 23.5cm, weight 29.06oz. Footnotes: These are the impaled arms of Colonel Sir William COLLINGS (1781-1855) Royal Guernsey Militia, merchant, ship owner and jurat of the Royal Court of Guernsey and his wife Lady Margaret LUKIS (1784-1852), both of Peter's Port and cousins. They were married in Guernsey in 1811. Sir William COLLINGS was the only son of Thomas Guerin COLLINGS (1786-1832) by Marie ALLAIRE (1791-1853), both of Guernsey. The family being originally from Somerset settled in Jersey in 1675 before moving to Guernsey. Lady Margaret LUKIS was the daughter of John LUKIS (1753-1832) of La Grange, Peter's Port, Guernsey by his wife Sarah COLLINGS (1749-1816). The blazon: azure, between three fleurs-de-lis two and one or, a griffin segreant holding between the claws an escutcheon argent, the latter charged with an anchor sable (Collings). – impaling - azure a chevron ermine between two annulets in chief and in base a bow lying fesseways argent crossed by two arrows in saltire, points downwards or, feathered of the third, on a chief of the second a Cornish chough proper between two crosses crosslet fitchy gules (Lukis). Crest: a horse's head erased argent bridled and charged on the neck with three fleurs-de-lis azure two and one (Collings). Buyers' Premium and Charges


For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
