A SCHOLAR'S ROCK IN THE FORM OF A FROG Qing Dynasty Of frog shape, the stone of an irregular orientation with sharp ridges and jagged protrusions, pierced with several perforations of various sizes, the stone of dark and light brownish-grey tone, wood stand. 11cm (4 3/8in) wide (2). Footnotes: 清 蛙形賞石 Provenance: Wang Jiqian (C. C. Wang 1907-2003) Collection, New York, June 1988 The current owner acquired a collection of strange stones — approximately ten or twelve pieces — from C. C. Wang's apartment on the East Side of New York during a visit. 來源: 王己千（1907-2003年）收藏，紐約，1988年6月 現藏家在拜訪王己千時，從他位於紐約東區的公寓中購得了一組約十至十二件的奇石收藏。 The frog became a favoured subject in the late Ming dynasty, largely due to its associations with Daoism, and this trend persisted into the Qing dynasty.
