Admiral Hermann Jacobsen - Großherzogtum Baden - Orden vom Zähringer Löwen - Großkreuzsatz mit Schwertern In Gold (etwas oxidiert) gefertigte Schärpendekoration des Herstellers Joseph Zuber in Karlsruhe mit der frühen himmelblauen, für 1870/80 typischen Medaillonmalerei der Burgruine Zähringen. Die mit Hohlnieten befestigten Schwerter ebenfalls in zweifarbigem Gold. Die Verspiegelung der grünen Kreuzarme teilweise matt, ein Haarriss im Glas des linken Armes. Breite 59,5 mm. Gewicht 46,3 g. Dazu der achtstrahlige, in Silber gefertigte Bruststern mit der von Zuber verwendeten Herstellerkennzeichnung "Z" auf der Nadelinnenseite. Das emaillierte Medaillon mit Goldauflagen und dem Ordenswahlspruch "FÜR EHRE UND WAHRHEIT". Die aus zweifarbigem Gold gefertigten Schwerter vernietet, an Nadel. Breite 86,5 mm. Gewicht 59,5 g. Zusammen mit ca. 1,50 m langem Schärpenband und konfektioniertem Halsband im etwas beschädigten Verleihungsetui mit Golddruck (Spiegel "F") und blauem Überkarton mit dem Aufdruck des Ordensgrades und der Adressierung an den "Herrn Vizeadmiral z.D. Hermann Jacobsen Kommandeur der 1. Marine-Division". Bei diesem am 27. September 1916 an Jacobsen verliehenen Großkreuzsatz handelt es sich um eine der überaus seltenen (ca. 20 Verleihungen) Schwertergarnituren aus dem Deutsch-Französischen Krieg 1870/71, wie sie im Weltkrieg (nach dem Tode des ersten Trägers und erfolgter Rücklieferung) erneut zur Verleihung gelangte. The swords also in two-colour gold and attached with hollow rivets. The silvering of the green cross arms matt in places, a hairline crack in the glass of the left arm. Width 59.5 mm. Weight 46.3 g. Comes with the eight-rayed breast star, worked in silver, the inside of the pin stamped with the manufacturer's mark "Z", used by Zuber. The enamelled medallion with gold appliqués and the motto of the order "FÜR EHRE UND WAHRHEIT" (tr. "FOR HONOUR AND TRUTH"), the two-colour gold swords riveted, on a pin. Width 86.5 mm. Comes with the circa 150 cm long sash ribbon and customised neck ribbon in the slightly damaged presentation case with gold print (mirrored "F"), plus the blue outer box, printed with the class of the order and addressed to "Herrn Vizeadmiral z.D. Hermann Jacobsen Kommandeur der 1. Marine-Division". Awarded to Jacobsen on 27 September 1916, this Grand Cross set dates from the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and is one of the exceptionally rare sword sets, awarded approximately a mere 20 times, that were eligible for re-awarding during World War I after being returned on the death of the first bearer.
