Brustbild in Generalsuniform mit angelegtem EK, Schulterstücke mit gekreuzten Marschallstäben. Rs. altes handschriftliches Etikett "Dieses Gemälde ohne Rahmen (K. H. Prinz Georg) ist Eigenthum des Herrn Kriegsminister v. d. Planitz", dazu ein altes maschinegeschriebenes Etikett "König Georg, Ölskizze zu einem für das sächs. Kriegsministerium bestimmten Bilde, von Franz Kors". In späterem, vergoldetem Profilrahmen. Bildmaße ca. 80 x 60 cm, Rahmenmaße ca. 98 x 78 cm. Lebendiger und treffsicherer Vortrag. Franz Kops (1846 - 1896) studierte in Weimar und zog nach Dresden, wo er sich einen Namen als Portrait- und Genremaler machte, der an zahlreichen Ausstellungen beteiligt war und Fürstenbildnisse schuf (s. Half length portrait in the uniform of a general, wearing the Iron Cross, his shoulder boards with crossed marshal's batons. An old handwritten label on the back reading "Dieses Gemälde ohne Rahmen (K. H. Prinz Georg) ist Eigenthum des Herrn Kriegsminister v. d. Planitz" (tr. "This painting without a frame (HRH Prince George) belongs to War Minister v. d. Planitz"), plus an old typed label "König Georg, Ölskizze zu einem für das sächs. Kriegsministerium bestimmten Bilde, von Franz Kors" (tr. "King George, oil sketch for a painting for the Saxon War Ministry, by Franz Kors"). In a later, gilt moulded frame. Size of the painting circa 80 x 60 cm, size of the frame circa 98 x 78 cm. The rendering both vivid and life-like. Franz Kops (1846 - 1896) studied in Weimar and then moved to Dresden, where he established his reputation as a portrait and genre painter he painted likenesses of the nobility and his works were shown in numerous exhibitions (cf. Thieme-Becker, vol. XXI, p. 304). Condition: II
