Aufklappbarer Globus mit intaktem Glas- und Keramikeinsatz als Tintenbehälter und zum Abstreifen der Tinte. Auf dem profilierten Sockel gruppieren sich rund um den Fuß des Globus die Symbole der Wissenschaften und Künste (gerollter Plan, Zahnrad, Hammer, Fernrohr, Dreieck, Stechzirkel, Palette mit Pinseln, Theatermaske, Lyra, Bücher). Auf einem Buchdeckel die zeitgenössische Widmungsgravur "Geschenk Sr. M. d. Königs Ludwig II. / Weihnachten 1864". Sockelunterseite mit Holzfüllung und Resten von rotem Filzbelag. Durchmesser ca. 18,5 cm, Höhe ca. 12 cm. Massives Material, schöne Patina. Einzigartiges, sehr repräsentatives Objekt aus dem Jahr des Regierungsantrittes des legendären Königs. The globe opening on a hinge, with the intact glass and ceramic insert serving as an inkwell and to scrape off excess ink. The symbols of the sciences and the arts (a rolled up plan, a cog, a hammer, a telescope, a triangle, dividers, a palette with brushes, a theatrical mask, a lyre, books) are arranged around the base of the globe on the contoured pedestal. A contemporary inscription on a book cover reads "Geschenk Sr. M. d. Königs Ludwig II. / Weihnachten 1864" (tr. "A gift from HRH King Ludwig II / Christmas 1864"). The underside of the base with wood filling and remnants of the red velvet underlay. Diameter circa 18.5 cm, height circa 12 cm. Solid material, beautiful patina. A unique, highly distinguished object dating from the year the legendary king ascended the throne. Condition: II
