Golddiadem und zwei Ohrringe, Baktrien, 1. - 3. Jhdt. n. Chr. Goldener Besatz von einem Kopfschmuck, wohl Mittelteil eines Diadems. Rechteckiger Goldstreifen von 2,5 cm Höhe und 16,5 cm Länge. An den Seiten knapp hinter dem Rand ca. 1,5 cm hohe und 0,5 cm breite Schlitze zur Befestigung an einem wohl textilen Band. Die Ränder durch gegeneinander verzwirnte Drähte eingefasst. Oben Reihe aus Edelsteinen, blaue und grüne in rechteckigen, rote in ovalen Fassungen. Die Zargen der Fassungen aus flach gehämmerten, verzwirnten Drähten hergestellt. In der Mitte Aufsatz aus zwei dreieckigen Aufsätzen, bestehend aus drei tropfenförmigen Steineinlagen und je zwei winzigen Perlen in der Mitte (eine fehlt). Im Zentrum des Goldbands ein mugeliger, roter Cabochon mit eingeschliffenem Zeichen, flankiert von zwei Fassungen mit runden, grünen Steinen. Darunter Pendilie an Drahtschlaufen mit aufgereihten Steinen und einer Perle. Links und rechts davon eine ähnlich konzipierte Gruppe aus Einlagen, mit kleinerem Stein in der Mitte und zusätzlicher, grüner Einlage darunter, nahe der Randschlitze hochrechteckige Einlagen mit Türkis. Dazugehörig zwei Ohrringe aus Golddrahtringlein mit spitzen Enden, darunter in Öse eingehängt Drahtschlaufen mit aufgereihten Edelsteinen und einer Perle, in der Konzeption der zentralen Pendilie des Diadems auffallend ähnlich. Höhe je 3,3 cm. Abgesehen von minimalem, nur auf der Rückseite sichtbarem Einriss auf der linken Seite, intakt. Ausgesprochen reizvolles Goldschmiedeensemble baktrischer Handwerker zur Zeit der Kushan-Herrschaft. A gold border for a headdress, probably the centrepiece of a diadem. A rectangular strip of gold, 2.5 cm wide and 16.5 cm long. Side slits close to the edges on each end, circa 1.5 cm high and 0.5 cm wide, for attachment to a ribbon, probably made of fabric. The edges trimmed with intertwined, twisted strands of wire. At the top, a row of gemstones, the blue and green in rectangular, the red in oval settings. The edges of the settings made of twisted strands of wire, hammered flat. The centrepiece consisting of two triangular appliqués, each formed of three teardrop-shaped stone inlays with two tiny pearls in the middle (one is missing). A convex, red cabochon set in the centre of the gold band, with a polished symbol, flanked by two settings with round, green stones. Below which, a pendilium on wire loops, strung with stones and a pearl. To the left and right is a group of inlays of similar design, with a smaller stone in the centre and underlaid with a further green inlay, with upright oblong inlays of turquoise near the side slits. Comes with two matching earrings made of tiny gold wire rings with pointed ends, wire loops strung with gemstones and a pearl threaded through the rings, which are almost identical in design to the central pendilium of the diadem. Height of each earring 3.3 cm. Intact, apart from a very small crack on the left side, which is only visible from the back. An exceptionally appealing set of jewellery, made by Bactrian goldsmiths during the time of the Kushan Empire.
