Chalkidischer Helm, Typ V, frühes 4. Jhdt. v. Chr. Bronzehelm mit ehemals vollflächiger Verzinnung, die in weiten Teilen der Oberfläche noch erhalten ist. Die untere Helmwand an den Ausschnitten für Ohren und Augen mit plastisch hervortretenden Bögen versehen. Zwischen den Augenbögen ein lanzettförmiger Nasenschutz. Hinter dem Ohrenausschnitt schließt nach einer seichten Kehlung ein leicht nach außen geschwungener, kurzer Nackenschutz an. Die Kalotte ist durch einen stumpfen Mittelgrat in zwei Hälften unterteilt und von der unteren Helmwand durch einen deutlichen Absatz getrennt. Dieser Absatz ist über der Stirn spitzwinklig nach oben gezogen. Die Wangenklappen sind durch ein fünfgliedriges Scharnier mit der Helmwand verbunden, je zwei Buchsen zu einer Wangenklappe gehörig. Die originalen Scharnierstifte noch vorhanden. Mehrere Risse in der Kalotte, die durch eine ältere und eine jüngere, deutlich professionellere Restaurierung, von innen her stabilisiert sind. Die Wangenklappen an den Kanten mit diversen Ausbrüchen, aus Scherben zusammengesetzt und von hinten stabilisiert, im Inneren ohne nennenswerte Fehlstellen. Trotz diverser Beschädigungen noch eindrucksvolles Exemplar eines formschönen, antiken Helmes. Abgesehen von den Rissen in der Kalotte und den Ausbrüchen am Rand der Wangenklappen und des Nackenschutzes weitestgehend in Originalsubstanz erhalten (weit über 90 %). Höhe mit Wangenklappen ca. 29 cm, Länge ca. 23 cm, Breite ca. 17 cm. Länge der Wangenklappen 11 cm. Bronze helmet, formerly with full-faced tin plating, which is still preserved on large areas of the surface. The lower section embellished with contoured ribs in repoussé at the ear and eye cut-outs. A lancet-shaped nose guard between the eye brows. Behind the ear cut-outs, the rear section features a shallow fuller before terminating in a short neck guard that curves outwards. The skull is divided into two lobes by a blunt medial ridge and offset from the lower part of the helmet by a distinct section pointing upwards above the forehead. The cheek pieces are attached to the skull by a five-part hinge, with two bushings for each cheek piece. The original hinge pins are still in place. Several cracks in the skull, which have been stabilised from the inside by means of one old repair and one more recent, clearly much more professional, restoration. Diverse notching on the edges of the cheek pieces, which have been assembled from fragments and stabilised from behind, no significant defects in the interior. Despite various flaws and damage, this example of an elegant, antique helmet is still impressive nevertheless. Apart from the cracks in the skull and the notching on the edges of the cheek pieces and neck guard, the original material almost completely intact (well over 90 %).
