Dargestellt ist der bedeutsame historische Moment, in dem der in schwedischen Diensten stehende Kadett Blücher als Kriegsgefangener vor seinem Onkel Freiherr von Belling, Chef der gleichnamigen preußischen Husaren, steht. Dieser überzeugt Blücher, unter preußischer Fahne zu kämpfen. Die Husaren sind zu Fuß und zu Pferd detailliert in voller Ausrüstung zu sehen, in ihren schwarzgrünen Uniformen um 1760 mit schwarzen, totenkopfbesetzten Flügelmützen. In altem Profilrahmen. This work captures the historical moment in which Blücher, a cadet serving in the Swedish army, is brought before his uncle, Freiherr von Belling, the commander of the Prussian Hussars of the same name, as a prisoner of war. Von Belling persuades Blücher to join his regiment and fight under the Prussian flag. The Hussars, both infantry and cavalry, are meticulously portrayed in full gear, wearing their black and green uniforms from circa 1760, with skulls emblazoned on their black mirlitons.
