Eickhorn M89 Sword - a Showroom Sample Grosser pattern produced as a showroom tool to demonstrate some extra cost details available through prestigious firm. All brass hilt in design of model 89 with extremely well detailed Prussian eagle with the crown on his head and the cipher of Wilhelm II on the breast. Hilt retains circa 25 % gilded finish. A number "3" applied to the reverse of the pommel back strap. Sharkskin covered grip wrapped with triple brass wire being twisted and larger in the center. Grip exhibits wear and some cracking along the seam down the back of grip. Leather finger hold has broken off but the original portion is still seated between the ferrule and lower basket hilt. The nickel-plated double fuller blade is a large proportioned style measuring 34 inches in length, exhibits some age freckling. Upper obverse portion of the blade has a large frosted panel with pointed design motive at end. Raised out on the panel is a large size 1935-41 Eickhorn squirrel logo. Below this are the raised words in Gothic-style lettering, "Original Eickhorn Blanke Waffen". Circa 5 % of gilding remain on the raised surfaces of trademark and the lettering. Original blade washer still in place exhibiting some aging. Many of these showroom swords were produced without scabbards. Length 100 cm.
