Für einige Zeit arbeitete der italienische Künstler Angelo Brotto für das toskanische Unternehmen Esperia; während dieser Zeit entstanden zahlreiche bemerkenswerte Wandleuchten sowie andere Arten von Lampen. Vorliegende monumentale Wandleuchte ist vom türkis schimmernden Wasser der Lagune von Venedig inspiriert. Das Wasser, welches die Lagunenstadt umringt, war oftmals Thema in Brottos Arbeiten und ist hier auf besonders originelle Art und Weise repräsentiert.

Zustand:
Der Wandleuchter befindet sich in einem guten Zustand und ist elektrifiziert. Die Oberflächen sind partiell minimal berieben und zerkratzt. Da Glühbirne sowie Kabel fehlen, wurde die Lampe nicht auf ihre Funktionstüchtigkeit geprüft. Wir übernehmen keine Garantie auf die Funktionstüchtigkeit. Die Maße der Blende liegt bei 80 x 80 x 12 cm.

Angelo Brotto (1914-2002)
Der italienische Künstler wurde am 23.31914 in Venedig geboren. Ab 1939 studierte Brotto am venezianischen Institute d’Arte, im Jahre 1941 wechselte er auf die Accademia. Zunächst war er fast ausschließlich als Maler tätig und kreierte zahlreiche stimmungsvolle, im Dunst der Lagune verschwimmende Landschaften und Porträts. Später wandte er sich mehr der Pittura metafisica und den Surrealisten zu, in dieser Zeit strahlten seine Arbeiten tragische und bisweilen makabre Untertöne aus. Auch als Radierer und Designer hatte er Erfolg und gewann viele Auszeichnungen. Seine Werke können unter anderem im Ca‘Pesaro in Venedig und in den Modernen Museen Roms besichtig werden. (nlu)

For some time, Italian artist Angelo Brotto worked for the Tuscan company Esperia; during this period he created numerous remarkable wall lightning sculptures and other types of lamps. Offered monumental sconce is reminiscent of the turquois shimmering waters of Venice. The water that surrounds the lagoon city was often featured in Brottos work and is represented here in a particularly original way.

Condition:
The sconce is in a good condition and is electrified. The surfaces are partially minimally rubbed and scratched. Since light bulb and cord are missing, the lamp was not tested on functionality. There is no guarantee on functionality. The dimensions of the screen measure 80 x 80 x 12 cm.

Angelo Brotto (1914-2002)
The Italian artist was born in Venice on march 23rd 1914. From 1939 onwards Brotto studied at the Venetian Institute d'Arte, in 1941 he continued his studies at the Accademia. First, he almost exclusively worked as a painter and created numerous atmospheric landscapes, blurred by the lagoon’s haze as well as portraits. Later he turned to Pittura metafisica and the Surrealists, at this time his work was permeated by tragic and sometimes macabre undertones. Brotto was also very successful as etcher and designer and won many awards. His works can be viewed, among others, at Ca 'Pesaro in Venice and at the modern museums of Rome. (nlu)
