Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985)
Osvaldo Borsani, Sohn des Möbelherstellers Gaetano Borsani studierte bis 1937 Architektur am Polytechnikum Mailand. Mit Cairoli und Giovanni Battista Varisco arbeitete er am Projekt Casa Minima für die 5. Triennale in Mailand. Anschließend war er in der väterlichen Möbelwerkstatt Atelier Varedo (später Arredamento Borsani) als Entwerfer tätig. Nach dem 2. Weltkrieg folgte die Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern wie Giò Pomodoro, Lucio Fontana und Roberto Crippa. Anfang der 1950er Jahre übernahm er die Leitung der Möbelfirma Tecno. 1966 war er an der Gründung der Zeitung Ottagono beteiligt. Zu seinen Preise gehören der Compassio d'oro (1962) und der erste Preis auf der 10. Mailänder Triennale mit dem 1953 entworfenen, variablen Sofa D70. Aus dem Sofa entwickelte er 1954 den Stuhl P40, der international Aufsehen erregte. Bei Tecno wurden außer diesen mehrere Sessel, Stühle, Tische und das Bürosystem Graphis von 1968 angeboten.

Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985)
Osvaldo Borsani, son of the furniture maker Gaetano Borsani studied architecture at the Politecnico in Milano until 1937. Together with Cairoli and Giovanni Varisco he worked at the project Casa Minima for the 5th Milano Triennale. Afterwards, he worked as a designer in the fatherly furniture workshop Atelier Varedo (later Arredamento Borsani). The collaboration with artists like Giò Pomodoro, Lucio Fontana and Roberto Crippa followed after the Second World War. In the early 1950s, he became the director of the furniture firm Tecno. Borsani was one of the founders of the magazine Ottagono in 1966. Among his prizes were the Compassio d'oro (1962) and the first prize of the 10th Milano Triennale with the variable sofa D70, a design of 1953. The sofa was the basis for the chair P40 in 1954, which created an international stir. The product range of Tecno included besides those several armchairs, chairs, tables and the office system Graphis of 1968.
