Private collection, Switzerland.
This portrait shows a lady from the court of King Jacob I of England, and can presumably be placed within the circle of the Flemish painter Paul van Somer, who was court painter there. The sitter wears a magnificent black velvet gown with a fan-like lace collar and slit sleeves, as was the fashion in early 17th century England.
