Eva re
Öl auf Kupfer. Jeweils 14,5 x 11,5 cm.
Nach einer 1604 entstandenen Serie von sechs Kupferstichen, die Jan Pietersz. Saenredam (1565-1607) nach Zeichnungen des Utrechter Malers Abraham Bloemaert (1564-1651) gestochen hat. Die beiden vorliegenden Gemälde greifen das zweite und dritte Blatt dieser Serie zur Geschichte Adams und Evas auf (vgl. Marcel G. Roethlisberger: Abraham Bloemaert and his Sons. Paintings and Prints, 2 Bde., Doornspijk 1993, Bd. 1, S. 121ff, Nr. 73 u. 74.

The works follow compositions from a series of six copperplate engravings by Jan Pietersz. Saenredam (1565-1607) after drawings by the Utrecht painter Abraham Bloemaert (1564-1651) from 1604. The paintings copy the second and third pages from the series of engravings with the story of Adam and Eve (cf. Marcel G. Roethlisberger: Abraham Bloemaert and his Sons. Paintings and Prints, 2 vols., Doornspijk 1993, vol. 1, p. 121ff, no. 73 & 74).
