L'opera rappresenta un'esemplificazione della pittura fiorentina del secondo Cinquecento. In questo periodo nella capitale del Granducato esisteva un'importante attività pittorica che troviamo riassunta nel magnifico Studiolo di Francesco I in Palazzo Vecchio. In questa piccola stanza appartata si trovano riunite le opere dei più illustri pittori fiorentini, che supervisionati da Giorgio Vasari e dal suo discepolo Giovan Battista Adriani, contribuirono alla decorazione, questi furono: Alessandro Allori, Andrea del Minga, Domenico Buti, Giovanni Maria Butteri, Vittore Casini, Mirabello Cavalori, Jacopo Coppi, Alessandro Fei, Maso da San Friano, Santi di Tito, il Vasari e altri.

Il Vasari scrisse che Butteri fu allievo del Pontormo e del Bronzino. Alla morte di quest'ultimo, avvenuta nel 1572, Alessandro Allori prese le redini della bottega, dove Butteri continuò a operare. Partecipò all'esecuzione di alcuni grandi cicli pittorici come la decorazione del Chiostro Grande di Santa Maria Novella, in collaborazione Allori. Fu molto legato ai Medici dei quali dipinse alcuni ritratti.

The artwork represents an exemplification of Florentine painting in the second half of the 16th century. At this time in the capital of the Grand Duchy, there was an important pictorial activity that we find summarised in the magnificent Studiolo di Francesco I in the Palazzo Vecchio. This small, secluded room contains the artworks of the most illustrious Florentine painters, who, supervised by Giorgio Vasari and his disciple Giovan Battista Adriani, contributed to the decoration. 1) Lots are offered for sale in public places by Lucas SRLs, which acts as an agent exclusively in its own name and on behalf of each seller under 'art.1704 Code Civ., The Lucas S.r.l. assumes in relation to the contractor or third parties other responsibilities in addition to the obligation arising from its role as agent.

2) Items are sold to the highest bidder, the auctioneer conducts the auction starting with the offer which it considers appropriate, depending on the value of the lot and competing offers. The auctioneer may bid on behalf of the seller up to the reserve price.
