Important painting of the crucifixion of Jesus from the collection of Konrad Adenauer,
Florence, oil / panel, 14th century, attributed to Niccoló di Pietro Gerini (1350 -1415),
height: 70,5 cm, width: 44,5 cm // Below with coats of arms of the Strozzi and Forini
families. Condition: restored crack on the left. The panel painting hung in Adenauer's
private house, as a photograph shows. See http://histrhen. landesgeschichte.
eu/2019/05/der-kanzler-und-die-kunst/; On the photo it hangs to the right of a panel of
St. Ursula, which has just been acquired by the Schnütgen Museum in Cologne. Adenauer
probably bought it from Heinz Kisters (1912-1977), but maybe also from another dealer.
After Adenauer's death, however, it became part of Kister's collection. The art dealer
Kisters was controversial at that time, especially since an auction of some paintings from
Adenauer's estate organised by him was not successful at Christie's. The work called up
here was not among these paintings. Recently, paintings from the Kisters Collection have
been auctioned off at very high prices, such as a Cranach triptych or a painting from
Titian, proof that his art connoisseurship must have been good. Literature: Heinz Kisters:

Florenz, Öl / Holz, 14. Jahrhundert, Niccoló di Pietro Gerini zugeschrieben (1350 -1415)

Unten mit Wappen der Familien Strozzi und Forini. Zustand: Links restaurierter Riss.
