Skarabäus
Ägypten, Neues Reich bis Spätzeit (ab 1550 v. Chr.)
Scarab, Egypt, New Kingdom to Late Period (after 1550 B.C.), Steatite, light greyish, width: 10 mm, length: 14 mm // Back: Wing covers beautifully engraved. On the base is the god Anubis in the shape of a lying dog with the scourge on his back, above is a line that cannot be interpreted, and below three characters (waterline, house, sun disk). This compilation can probably be read as "The Lord of the Secret in the House of Re". Dead Gods are very rarely found on scarabs. Provenance: 1996 Elsa-Bloch-Diener, Bern; Private Collection Zurich
