Italien. "Geographia moderna de tutta la Italia". Grenzkol. Kupf.-Kte. nach J. Gastaldi ("Giacopo di castaldi"; von M. Florimi) bei P. Petrucci ("Petrus Petrucgs. for."), Siena, um 1590. Mit Rollwerkskart, 2 Windrosen u. einigen Segelschiffen. 39,5:49 cm.
Bifolco/Ronca 17; Borri 56 (Rarità 9); Karrow 30/90.7 Anm.; nicht bei Tooley, Italian u.a. - Das ältere Grenzkolorit in Braun u. Rot tlw. doppelt ausgeführt u. abgeklatscht; mit leichtem Plattenton u. vor allem in den Rändern etwas fleckig. Oben 3 Wurmstiche u. etwas knapp bis an die Platte beschnitten. Links kl. Quetschfalte im Bildrand; Bug im unteren Viertel geplatzt u. hinterklebt, darüber kl. Querriß.
Rare map by Pietro Petrucci (also Petrugius, Petrucius), published as second and last state of the print by Matteo Florimi, being a nearly exact copy of the Duchetti map including the cartouche and decoration. - With watermark: monogram (PM?) in circle with cross above. - Old outline col. in brown and red, partly doubled, and some offsetting in places; lightly toned, some spotting mainly to margins. At top 3 tiny wormstitches and trimmed near to platemark. Small creasemark at left; rep. split at lower quarter of centerfold, small tear above.
