Buch 7 enthält die Arithmetik, Buch 8 die Astronomie, Buch 9 seine 'Musica'. - Vereinzelt leicht fleckig oder gebräunt, erste u. letzte Bll. etwas stärker fleckig bzw. angeschmutzt, Lage c wohl aus einem anderen Exemplar ergänzt u. minimal kürzer. It was highly esteemed in the Middle Ages as a textbook. The seventh book is on the Greek theory of arithmetic"(Smith). Book 8 relates to astronomy, book 9 contains the 'Musica', 'important for its Latin definitions of musical terms. Next to Boethius, Martianus was the most important ancient Latin authority on music' (DSB IX, 140 f.). - Occasional light browning or spotting, some staining and soiling to first and last few leaves, gathering c somewhat shorter and supposedly supplied from another copy. A copy with wide margins, bound in 19th cent. half vellum, somewhat rubbed and worn.
