Johann Jakob Dillenius' (1687-1747) erste größere Arbeit. Titelauflage der ersten Ausgabe von 1718, erweitert um den umfangreichen Appendix und seine seine Antwort auf Rivinus. "Dillenius' failure to make headway in Germany ... was undoubtedly due to his unwise criticism of the system of classification of A. Q. Bachmann (Rivinus), which was widely accepted in Germany at the time. He attacked Bachmann's system in his 'Catalogus', in which the merits and demerits of the various sytems of classification are enumerated with impariality and justice" (DSB IV, 98f.). 1712 ging Dillenius für immer nach England, wo er 1724 in die Royal Society aufgenommen wurde und ab 1734 in Oxford lehrte. - Lage b des Appendix in den Hauptteil verbunden. Etwas gebräunt, stellenw. mit Feuchtigkeitsspuren, auch sporfleckig; Front., Vor- und Nachstücke sowie einzelne Bll. mit Randläsuren u. tlw. mit Japanpapier restauriert. Fehlt 1 Bl. Vorstücke zum Appendix, keine Textlücke erkennbar.
