Kart. u. eingefaßt von 4 Bildleisten mit insges. 8 Trachtenfiguren, 6 Medaillonporträts u. 10 Ansichten im Oval. 42:53 cm. Schilder/Stopp, MCN VI, App. 18.2. - Seltene Karte des Kontinents mit schönen Randleisten, kopiert nach Ausgaben von Kaerius u. Visscher 1614 bzw. 1652. Von der 1658 datierten Erstausgabe ist nur 1 Bibliotheks-Ex. bekannt; die 2. Aufl. mit der ausgekratzten, aber noch schwach lesbaren Dat., erschien nur in Heylyns 'Cosmographia' bei Chetwind 1660-62. - Mit Wasserzeichen: Stab mit bekrönter Lilie bzw. kl., unleserl. Monogramm. - Grenzkolorit stark verblaßt; etwas fleckig bzw. in den Falten leicht gebräunt. Die teils geglätteten Faltstellen (aufgrund des dünnen Papiers) geplatzt bzw. mit kl. Rissen u./od. Löchlein u. tlw. rep.; neu aufgeleimt. Rare map by Walton copied after Kaerius and Visscher, therefore the geographical content mainly outdated. The decorative borders show 8 costumed figures, 6 portraits (here Cromwell replaced by Charles II.), and oval views of Amsterdam, Antwerp, Gdansk, Hamburg, London, Paris, Prague, Sevilla and Stockholm (c. 3,5:7 cm) and at upper center Rome (3,5:15 cm). The map in its second state with the former date of 1658 erased, printed on thin paper and with folds to small folio, because inserted in the 1660-62 ed. of Heylin. - Uncol., map with faint traces of a former col. in outline. Some spotting and browning in places. Due to the thin paper the old folds with splits and smaller tears and holes, partly repaired; sized.
