First edition. Brown was one of the founders of dentistry as an organized profession. "It is the only didactic poem in English, a real literary curiosity, which was favorably received by the reviewers, and has been quoted frequently by dental writers. It was reprinted five times; it had a great influence in elevating dentistry as a profession" (Dict. Amer. Biogr. III, 155). The poem ends on page 80. It is followed by the notes of Eleazar Parmly. - Foxed, bound in contemp. faded cloth.
