"It contains a second preface by Newton and considerable additions, the chapters on the lunar theory and the theory of comets being much enlarged" (Babson). Enthält das wichtige Vorwort des Herausgebers Roger Cotes. - Fast durchgehender bräunender Wasserrand im rechten weißen Rand, dadurch hier zu Beginn etwas Moderschaden u. die ersten 8 Bll. im rechten Rand angerändert. Titel mit Besitzvermerk des frühen 19. Jh. im oberen Rand.
Second edition, considerably enlarged. With engr. title vignette, folding plate and numerous woodcut diagrams in text. Includes the celebrated attack of the editor Roger Cotes against Cartesian philosophy. - Brownish waterstaining to right blank margin causing some mould damages in places, first eight leaves remargined. Early 19th cent. ownerhsip inscription to title. Early 20th cent. calf gilt.
