Ovidius Naso, P. Opera. (Teil I von II:) Metamorphoses. Ed. Barnabas Celsanus. Vicenza, Hermann Liechtenstein, 10. Mai 1480. Fol. (30:20,5 cm). Rom. Typ., am Schluß "telos" in griech. Typ., Initialspatien. 168 nn. Bll. (erstes u. letztes w.). Ldr. d. 18. Jh. mit Rvg. u. Rsch.; etwas fleckig u. berieben, Rücken etwas wurmstichig.
Hain-12141; GW M28601; BMC VII, 1037; Goff O-131. - Seltene Ausgabe der Metamorphosen, "appears to be reprinted from that of Corallus, Parma 11477" (BMC). Im August 1480 ließ Liechtenstein eine Ausgabe der kleineren Schriften des Ovid folgen. - Zu Beginn u. gegen Ende etwas gebräunt bzw. stockfl., einzelne Wurmstiche, sonst schönes, kaum fleckiges und breitrandiges Exemplar. Aus dem Besitz von Gustavo Camillo Galletti (1805-1868; Stempel auf Bl. 2) u. Horace de Landau (1824-1903; Exlibris).
Rare edition of the Metamorphoses, forms part 1 of Liechtenstein's edition of the Opera. - Some browning or foxing at beginning and end of the volume, a few small wormholes. A good copy with wide margins, bound in 18th cent. calf, somewhat rubbed and stained, minor worming to spine. From the collections of Gustavo Galletti (stamp) and Horace de Landau (bookplate).
