Linné, C. Skånska Resa, på Höga Öfwerhetens befallning förrätted år 1749. Stockholm, L. Salvius, 1751. (20,5:13 cm). Mit gefalt. Kupferkarte u. 6 (5 gefalt.) Kupfertafeln u. einigen Textholzschn. 5 Bll., XIV, 434 S., 17 Bll. (inkl. Errata). - Angebunden: Ders. & J. G. Wahlbom. Sponsalia plantarum, eller blomstrens biläger. Nu på svenska öfversatt. Ebda. 1750. Mit 1 gefalt. Kupfertaf. 2 Bll., 68 S., 1 Bl. Tafelerkl., 3 Bll. Anz. Hldr. um 1900 im Stil d. Zt. mit Rsch. u. reicher Rvg., Rücken etwas verblaßt.

"By order of the parliament, which wanted an inventory of all the natural resources of the country, during three summers in the 1740's Linnaeus traveled through selected areas to describe them and to search for dyestuffs, minerals, clay, and other economically useful substances ... Nothing escaped his attention on his travels on horseback - plants and insects, runic stones and other ancient remnants, farmers working in their field and meadows, the changes in the weather" (DSB VIII, 376). Die Tafeln mit Pflanzen, Fischen, Altertümern, Bauern beim Hausbau etc. Nachdem erst einige Exemplare gedruckt waren, protestierte der Sponsor der Reise, Baron Hårleman gegen einen Abschnitt auf S. 26, der daraufhin geändert wurde; vorliegend mit den Korrekturen (vgl. Soulsby). - Vorgebunden ein nicht zugehöriges gestochenes Porträt Linnés. Etwas gebräunt, Taf. III mit hinterlegten Löchlein im Bild. - [strong]II.[/strong] Soulsby 1454; vgl. Stafleu-C. 4738 u. VII, S. 17. - Mehrfach aufgelegte, 1746 verteidigte Dissertation. "Linnaeus took an unselfish and devoted interest in his more mature students ... He persuaded an imposing number of them to doctorate, but he usually wrote their theses himself" (DSB VIII, 375). Neueres Exlibris Hilmer Persson.
[strong]I.[/strong] First edition, second issue (cf. Soulsby). With folding engr. map and 6 (5 folding) engr. plates. - Some browning, tiny holes to 1 plate affecting image. - [strong]II.[/strong] With 1 folding plate. Half-calf gilt to style c. 1900, spine somewhat faded.
