Enthält 27 ptolemaeische und 38 neue Karten: 3 Weltkarten, Karten von Europa (28), Afrika (9), Asien (19) und Amerika (6, Mittelamerika mit dem südlichen Teil von Nordamerika u. Florida, Südamerika, Nordostküste mit Kanada [Kershaw 18b], Brasilien, Cuba, Haiti). - Leicht gebräunt bzw. fleckig, vereinzelt stärker. Ränder hier und da mit winzigen Wurmspuren in den w. Rändern, vereinzelt auch Ktn. betroffen. S. 227/8 kl. Loch im w. Unterrand, S. 263/4 mit kl. Randeinriß, am Schluß S. 57 im Bund verstärkt und S. 63/4 mit 4 (2 ausgefüllt) kl. Löchern im Seitenrand. 2 Ktn. mit Tintennotiz im Oberrand, Titel mit 2 hs. Besitzvermerken. Karten insgesamt gut erhalten, meist mit stärkerem Plattenton, einige etwas schwach im Abdruck. "In this printing of Ptolemy's 'Geografia' by Ziletto there is a new Ptolemaic world map which has different title and is based on a revised conical projection. Otherwise the map is similar to the first issued in 1561. The 1574 version was used in subsequent editions in 1598 and 1599" (Shirley 133). Furthermore, 6 maps of America (Kershaw 18b, Burden 29 & 45; Wagner 46, 48, 54). - Slight fingermarking, staining and browning, stronger in places. Occasional minor worming and isolated small defects to margins, 2 ownership inscriptions to title. Maps in good condition, mostly somewhat toned, impressions sometimes a bit fading, ink note to upper margin of 2 maps. Contemp. limp vellum, stained, corners, head and tail of spine a bit chipped, a few small tears to cover of spine and upper joint.
