Dafür jedoch angebunden die erste englische Ausgabe, "a reissue of the original plates with explanations of the figures" (H.). S. 13 dieses Beibands auf der Rückseite des zugehörigen Titels abgedruckt. Dillenius' Hauptwerk war erstmals 1741 erschienen. "(It) introduced a new classification of the lower plants (some features of which system are still in use to this day)" (DSB IV, 99). Vorn eingebunden ein hs. Brief an sowie 2 Bll. hs. Notizen vermutlich von William Borrer. - Text und Tafeln etwas stockfleckig und streckenweise etwas gebräunt, vor allem in der ersten Hälfte teilw. stärker. Zu Beginn S. VII mit langem Randeinriß (ca. 18 cm), S. 308f. und 328f. stark fleckig. Tafeln und Text teilw. mit sauberen Bleistiftanmerkungen. Fehlen 8 S. Appendix und die Tafeln der latein. Ausgabe. Exemplar aus der Bibliothek des englischen Botanikers W. Borrer (1781-1862) mit dessen hs. Besitzvermerk und gest. Wappen-Exlibris. Second Latin edition, bound together with the second English edition incl. 85 engr. plates, a reissue of the original plates with explanations of the figures, whereas the 1811 edition has reengraved plates (which are not present here). Furthermore, at the beginning a letter addressed to and 2 leaves of notes presumably by Bronner are bound in. - Some foxing and browning esp. to first half, stronger in places. Long marginal tear to p. VII. Some pencil notes to text and plates. Lacking 8 pp. appendix and plates of Latin edition. With ownership inscription and engr. armorial bookplate of the English botanist William Borrer. Bound in contemp. calf, rubbed, spine and edges renewed.
