Hier nur mit geänderter Verlegeradresse u. dem fiktiven Hinweis auf die Autorschaft von F. de Wit (s. hierzu ausführl. Burden). - Gering gebräunt u. Bug tlw. leimschattig, vereinzelt fleckig, weiße Ränder tlw. wasser- u. sporenfleckig; im weißen Unterrand seitl. jeweils kl. Einriß u. Wurmlöchlein. Fine map of the Americas with California as an island, first published in altogether 2 states by Justus Danckerts around 1696. The plate was taken over by the Ottens brothers after the death of Theodorus Danckerts in 1727, who just changed the publisher's address, but with the curiosity of adding Frederick de Wit's name too. Burden states that he "has not located or found any record of an example bearing de Wit's name only and as he died in 1706... it can be concluded that his name was included purely as an advert". - Contemp. col. Minor browning or spotting, some discoloration from paste to centerfold. Some waterstaining and spotting to white margins, each 1 small tear and wormhole to corners of the lower white one.
