RARE FIGURE OF THE YOUTHFUL GUANDI.
China. Ming dynasty (1368-1644). 16th c.
Bronze with dark patina, residue of gilding and colored lacquer. The lively, almost portrait like figure shows him in a scholars garment, quite unusually sitting on an armchair in horseshoe shape. His feet are resting on a stool in front. In his raised left hand he was twisting the end of his beard, which was once inserted in real hair. Height 28,5cm, 13x13,5cm. Condition A/B.

SELTENE FIGUR DES JUGENDLICHEN GUANDI.
China. Ming-Dynastie (1368-1644). 16. Jh.
Bronze mit dunkler Patina, Resten von Vergoldung und farbigem Lack. Die lebendige, regelrecht portraithafte Darstellung zeigt ihn in Beamtengewand
ungewöhnlicherweise auf einem Armlehnstuhl in Hufeisenform. Die Füße hat er auf einer
Fußbank davor abgestellt. Die erhobene linke Hand hielt ursprünglich die Spitze des
Bartes, der aus Echthaar eingesetzt war. Höhe 28,5cm, 13x13,5cm. Zustand A/B.
