VOTIVE RELIEF DEPICTING BUDDHA
Terracotta. Khmer, 12th – 13th
Buddha is shown seated in padmasana on a lotus throne under a canopy, one hand resting in his lap, the other hand is in bhumisparsha mudra; the canopy supported of pillars and topped of a lotus bud, further decorated with surrounding stupas different sizes and shaped as bells, the contour of this votive relief formed as the Buddhist magic pearl ratna, mounted on a black base.

KAMBOJA, Vermutlich 12.- 13. Jh. Gebrannter Ton Ovale, oben spitz auslaufende Form. Dargestellt ist Buddha auf einem Lotuspodest, unter einem Baldachin und mit der Handhaltung der Erdberührung (Wahrhaftigkeit). Das Bildnis ist von mehreren, verschieden großen Stupas umgeben. Viele winzige Reste von Gold (besonders rückseits), kleinere Ausbrüche. Aus einer deutschen Privatsammlung.
