Hudson Valley Fowler, c. 1740. 54 1/2 in., .76 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech, ring decoration at 12 and 17 in. from the breech, brass blade front sight; curved Dutch lock with pointed tail, no pan bridle and long steel spring finial; tiger maple stock with relief leaf carving at the rear of the lock mortice, side plate plateau, rear of trigger guard and entry pipe, raised carving along the rammer channel; brass furniture including a trigger guard with broad pointed finials, reeded bow, butt plate with ball and point tang, thumb piece, flat side plate with pointed tail, three sheet brass rammer pipes and an entry pipe, wood rammer with brass tip. Overall lg. 70 3/8 in. Condition: Barrel toned to brown with pitting at the vent, possibly a skilled reconversion; lock is toned to dark brown and has pitting inside the pan; stock is restored from the entry pipe to the muzzle; brass toned to yellow.
