American Horseman's Pistol, c. 1770-85. 6 3/8 in., .70 caliber octagon to round barrel with brass blade front sight; flat Dutch/Germanic lock; walnut stock with carved plateau around the lock mortice, side plate and rammer channel, carved scrolling decoration around the breech plug tang and behind rammer entry area; brass furniture including trigger guard with square finial, butt cap with pointed tang, flat side plate with pointed end, and sheet brass rammer pipe, wood rammer. Overall lg. 11 1/2 in. Condition: Barrel toned to mottled gray/brown and with light pitting at the muzzle and vent areas; lock toned mostly to mottled brown with light pitting; stock has scattered dings and dents and a tight hairline on the left side of the fore end; brass toned to yellow; action functions properly.
