American Dragoon Pistol, attributed to S. Homes, Stevensburg, Virginia, late 18th century. 12 1/4 in., .73 caliber octagon to round barrel with worn engraved markings on the top of the barrel; unbridled flat lock plate with pointed tail and scrollwork engraving, the inside surface indistinctly marked 'S.HOMES'; cherry stock with bulbous butt and line carved scroll work around the breech plug tang; brass furniture including trigger guard with ball finial, butt cap, flat side plate with pointed tail, sheet brass nose band, sheet brass rammer and entry pipes, wood rammer. Overall lg. 18 1/4 in. Condition: Reconversion, barrel and lock toned to deep brown; stock has restoration above the forward part of the lock mortice along about 5 in. of the barrel channel; brass mostly toned to yellow, forward part of trigger guard toned to green.
