A Cased Pair Of 32-Bore Flintlock Duelling Pistols By Grierson, Gun-Maker To His Majesty, No. 100, Early 19th Century With rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels each signed in capitals along the top flat and decorated with a line of foliage at the rear of the breech, gold-lined touch-holes each with central recess, border engraved tangs each with back-sight and decorated with a martial trophy and foliage, signed border engraved flat bevelled locks each engraved with foliage on the stepped tail and with a starburst behind the gold-lined semi-rainproof pan, cocks (one replaced) each engraved en suite, safety-catches and rollers, highly figured full stocks (fore-end tips repaired) each with rounded flat-sided butt, blued steel trigger-guards and turned ramrod-pipes, the former each with engraved pineapple finial and decorated with a martial trophy and foliage on the border engraved bow, set triggers, original horn-tipped ramrods, one with iron worm, and retaining some of their original blueing: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including leather-covered three-way powder-flask stained in imitation of tortoiseshell, steel bullet mould and pan brush, the interior of the lid with illustrated maker's trade label, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle, London proof marks 24.5 cm. barrels Footnotes: Charles Grierson was a workman of John Manton.
