A Very Rare Composite 22-Bore 'English-Lock' (Type 1) Pistol Circa 1640 With three-stage barrel incised with triple lines at the muzzle, mid-section and at the part octagonal breech, the latter with cusped back-sight at the rear, plain tang, flat lock (mainspring replaced) secured by three side-nails and with sear protruding through the back-plate and engaging with the tail of the cock, buffer, separate pan secured by an external screw, and bridle to the steel-spring, figured full stock (fore-end and bottom of butt with old repairs) carved with chevrons around the tang (old repair above the lock), iron mounts comprising flat ovoidal pommel-cap secured by a screw, later fore-end strap and ramrod-pipe, and later button trigger and ramrod (some old wear and rust patination), indistinct proof marks and barrelsmith's mark 18.3 cm. barrel Footnotes: Provenance William G.
