A BRITISH INDIA PATTERN SERGEANT'S CARBINE WITH BAYONET, c. 1800. 37 in., .67 caliber barrel with ring decoration at the breech and Tower ordnance proof marks; slightly convex lock plate with double line border engraving, the pointed tail marked 'TOWER' and crown over 'GR' and crowned broad arrow below the pan, the inside of the plate marked crown over '3,' '22,' 'WS,' and 'W'; walnut stock with inspector's marks behind the trigger guard, the right side of the butt with storekeeper's mark, 'III.C.R' and '16' and 'AW' behind the side plate, the rammer channel with inspector's marks, assembly number and illegible setter's up mark; brass trigger guard with stylized acorn finial stepped butt plate tang 'S' side plate two rammer and one entry pipes, brass nose cap; steel rammer with button head marked 'C&G' near the head, threaded end; socket bayonet marked 'Osborn and crown over '19.' Overall lg. 52 1/2 in. Condition: Barrel toned to mottled brown, lock toned to gray; stock has numerous dings and dents and crack on the right side between the second and entry pipes; brass toned to yellow; lock functions properly.
