A BRASS BARRELLED FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS, by Edward Bond, London, c. 1780. 16 in. brass barrel with flaring muzzle, the breech with engraved foliate decoration and with crown over 'EB' mark for Edward Bond and London Company of Gunmakers proof marks; slightly convex lock plate with border engraving and 'E. Bond' below the pan; walnut stock with carved plateau and shell around the breech plug tang; brass furniture including a butt plate with pointed tang engraved with a panoply of arms, oval thumb piece, trigger guard with acorn finial, rosettes around the side nails, two sheet brass rammer pipes, sling swivels, and wood rammer with brass tip. Overall lg. 31 3/8 in. Condition: Brass toned to yellow, lock toned to brown with light pitting, steel appears to be replacement, stock has scattered dings, dents and scratches, action functions properly.
