An Edward VII mahogany Coronation chair, 1902 The chair with triple slats and drop in rush seat on front square tapering supports joined by stretchers, stamped to back rail E.R VII CORONATION and a plaque for Margaret Viscountess Strathallan, 45.5cm wide x 48cm deep x 91.5cm high, (17 1/2in wide x 18 1/2in deep x 36in high) Footnotes: The coronation of Edward VII and his wife, Alexandra, was held at Westminster Abbey on 9th August 1902. It was originally scheduled for June, but had to be postponed at short notice due to Edward requiring emergency abdominal surgery. The ceremony differed greatly to his mother's, Queen Victoria, in 1838 and saw a carefully planned spectacle which sought to demonstrate the influence of the British Empire. See the following lot 8 for the Coronation chair used in his son, George V's, 1911 Coronation. Margaret, née Smythe of Methven Castle, was David Perth's grandmother. Buyers' Premium and Charges


For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
