Eighteen English delftware tiles, circa 1720-60 Painted with figure, landscape and shipping subjects, comprising: a Liverpool tile with a 'Louis XV' border, four London tiles with 'Barred Ox-head' corners, a London tile with 'Diaper' corners, a Wapping tile painted with a puppet theatre, a London tile with a fine sailing ship and 'Spiders Head' corners, five Bristol tiles with 'Flowerhead' corners, a Liverpool tile with an 'Octagonal Dash' border, a Liverpool tile with a shepherd and shepherdess, and three London tiles with 'Queen Anne Style' figures in landscapes, approx 12-13.3cm wide (18) Footnotes: Provenance A number of tiles from Jonathan Horne or Sampson and Horne Graham Slater Collection A tile fragment matching the scene of a puppet show was found on the site of the Hermitage Pothouse in Wapping, see Betts and Weinstein, Tin Glazed Tiles from London, (2010), fig.489.
