Five interesting English delftware plates, all inscribed and dated 1749-1791 Painted in blue, one London, with a Chinoiserie landscape incorporating buildings and trees, the reverse inscribed 'W/ R.E/ Septr. 30/ 1766', three probably Liverpool, with flowering plants, the reverses inscribed 'L/ I.R/ 1749', 'W/ E.M/ 1750', and 'Elizabeth/ Moldman/ 1754' respectively, the last Lambeth, with bamboo and plants before a fence, the reverse inscribed 'B/ J.M/ 1791', 21.5-22.8cm diam (5) Footnotes: Provenance Commander N J P Mills Collection (1754) With Jonathan Horne, 1980 (1754) With Garry Atkins (1749 and 1766) Graham Slater Collection The example dated 1754 is illustrated by Lipski and Archer, Dated English Delftware (1984), p.132, no.584, where it is stated that the surname could be read as Holdman.
