Four printed creamware bowls of naval interest, late 18th century Each printed in place, one of generous size with 'SWEET POLL OF PLYMOUTH' to the interior, the exterior inscribed 'When this you see/ remember me./ Tho' many Leagues/ we distant be.' and with a coastal scene of a ship, flanked by scenes of Venus and Neptune all by Sadler and Green, impressed 'WEDGWOOD & CO', two with three-masted ships in full sail to the interiors, the exteriors with two scenes of figures in pastoral landscapes, one flanked by floral sprays, the other with scenes of Venus and Neptune by Sadler and Green, the smallest with 'Come Box the Compass', the exterior with four pastoral landscapes, 12.2-23.5cm diam (4) Footnotes: Provenance Graham Slater Collection 'Sweet Poll of Plymouth' is taken from Charles Dibdin's song of the same name, see David Drakard, 'Sailors Afloat and Ashore', ECC Trans, Vol.14, No.1 (1990), p.72, fig.30.
