Jh.v.C.a) STIERKOPF. - Naturalistisch, kräftig prononciert; mit faltiger Wamme; nach links gerichtet. Rückseite im Negativ. Linkes Horn fehlt. b) WAGEN. - Nach links gerichtet. Auf Basis grosses, vierspeichiges Rad; dahinter Teil des Wagenkorpus’. Rückseite glatt. Beides Fragmente von Reliefpinakes.Provenienz: Slg. P.A.E. Hollander, 1992-2010. - a) Ehem. Danach Archea-Ancient Art, Amsterdam, Inv.-Nr. 8585, erworben 18.05.2009.Die Mehrzahl der Täfelchen ist belegt für das Heiligtum der Persephone in Lokroi Epizephyrioi. Aus lokalem Ton gefertigt und ursprünglich bemalt, wurden diese für Lokroi ganz charakteristischen Votiv-Relief-Pinakes im Rahmen des Persephone- und Aphrodite-Kultes von den Besuchern des Heiligtums geweiht. Intakte Täfelchen haben 1-2 Löcher am oberen Rand, was für eine Aufhängung der Pinakes im Heiligtum spricht. B.C.a) BULL’S HEAD. - Naturalistic, visibly powerful bull’s head with jowly dewlap, facing left. Reverse in the negative. Left horn missing. b) CHARIOT. - Facing left. Based on a large, four-spoked wheel with chariot box behind it. Reverse smooth. Both fragments of relief pinakes.Provenance: Coll. P.A.E. Hollander, 1992-2010. - a) Formerly Belgian priv. coll. Thereafter Archea-Ancient Art, Amsterdam, inv. no. 8585, acquired 18.5.2009.Most of these pinakes have been linked to the sanctuary of Persephone in Lokroi Epizephyrioi. Made of local clay and painted originally, these votive relief pinakes, which are characteristic of Lokroi, were consecrated by visitors to the sanctuary as part of the Persephone and Aphrodite cult. Those that are still whole have 1 or 2 holes near the top edge, suggesting that they were suspended inside the sanctuary originally. a) On the style and motif, cf.
