Attisch, ca. 470-460 v.C.Im vom Mäander gerahmten Tondo ein Jüngling im schwarzgesäumten Himation nach links, vermutlich Weihrauch auf einen Altar streuend. Hinter ihm eine Schale für rituelle Waschungen. A: Stehende Frau in Chiton und Himation, dem vor ihr sitzenden bärtigen Mann eine Fleischkeule anbietend. Links davon, durch eine Säule getrennt, ein Jüngling. B: Bärtiger Mann im Himation nach rechts, sich auf einen Stab stützend. Unterhalb der Henkel eine aufrechte Palmette. Aus Fragmenten zusammengesetzt; Fehlstellen gefüllt und eingefärbt. Oberflächen berieben; Firnis teilweise bräunlich-orange fehlgebrannt. Stiel und Fuss fehlen. Am Stielansatz, der zurechtgeschnitten wurde, vier sorgfältig gebohrte Löcher für Metallnieten, die auf eine antike Reparatur hinweisen.Provenienz: Ehem. Attic, ca. 470-460 B.C.Standing inside the tondo framed by a meander is a youth in a black-bordered himation, facing left and probably sprinkling incense onto an altar. Behind him is a bowl for ritual ablutions. A: A standing woman dressed in chiton and himation offers the bearded man seated in front of her a haunch of meat. To the left of this scene, and separated from it by a column, is a youth. B: Bearded man in a himation facing right, leaning on a staff. Upright palmette at the base of each handle. Reassembled from fragments; lacunae filled and coloured. Surfaces abraded; glaze brownish-orange in places from misfiring. Stem and foot missing. At the root of the stem, which has been trimmed, are four carefully drilled holes for metal rivets, attesting to a repair in Antiquity.Provenance: Formerly French art market, Hôtel des Ventes D’Avignon, 1985.
