This peep box made of mahogany presumably dates from the turn of the century. The wooden box is an optical device for enhancing the sense of depth perception from a flat picture, for example from landscapes, cities or themes from mythology or biblical topics. Zograscopes were very popular at fun fairs in Europe during the 19th century.
The showcase is in good original condition with distinct traces of age and wear. The Zograscope is fully functional, yet we do not guarantee functionality. The dimensions on base are 157 x 62 x 62 cm (height x width x depth) and 157 x 35 x 35 cm (height x width x depth) on the top. (sku)
