Sehr schönes Exemplar der hohe Kunst des Geigenbauens mit fein gemasertem Holz

Zustand:
Die Violine ist in einem guten, dem Alter entsprechendem Zustand mit üblichen Gebrauchsspuren. Reparierter Deckenstimmriss, partiell leichter Oberflächenberieb und winzige Bestoßungen. Griffbrett, Wirbel und Steg wie üblich erneuert bzw. neu gefasst. Der Geigenkasten mit üblichen Abnutzungsspuren. Die Korpuslänge beträgt ca. 36 cm, die Gesamtlänge misst 60 cm. Die Gesamtlänge des Bogens liegt bei 73,5 cm, die Spiellänge ist 63,5 cm. Der Geigenkasten hat eine Länge von 77,5 cm.

Gabriel David Buchstetter (1713-1773)
Der Instrumentenbauer wurde 1713 als Sohn des Geigenbauers Christoff Andre Buchstetter in Regensburg geboren. Gabriel David widmete sich ausschließlich dem Lauten- und Geigenbau, während zwei seiner Brüder sowohl als Musiker als auch als Orgelbauer tätig waren. Er übernahm die Werkstatt seines Vaters in Stadtamhof und führte sie erfolgreich weiter. Nach Gabriel Davids Tod übernahm wiederum dessen Sohn die Leitung. Später ging das Unternehmen in die Hände des Veit Anton Widhalm über. (nlu)

Condition:
The violin is in good condition, consistent with age and bearing usual signs of wear. Partially slight surface abrasion and tiny bumps. Repaired crack on the belly, the pegs, fingerboard and bridge have been renewed or repainted as usual. Case with usual signs of wear and tear. The length of the body measures c. 36 cm, the total length measures 60 cm. The total length of the bow is 73.5 cm, the strings have a length of 63.5 cm. The length of the violin case measures 77.5 cm.

Gabriel David Buchstetter (1713-1773)
The instrument maker was born in 1713 as son of luthier Christoff Andre Buchstetter in Regensburg. Gabriel David exclusively devoted himself to manufacturing lutes and violins, while two of his brothers were active both as a musicians and organ builders. He took over his father's workshop in Stadtamhof and continued it with much success. After the death of Gabriel David, his son in turn took over the business. Later, the company passed into the hands of Veit Anton Widhalm. (nlu)
