Diese Form der Trinkgefäße stammt aus dem frühen Mittelalter und sie sollte der Gefahr einer Vergiftung entgegenwirken. Sturzkelche waren vor allem in vornehmen Kreisen in Benutzung, so dass es sehr wertvolle, reich verzierte oder figürlich dargestellte Exemplare wie dieses in vielen Museen und Sammlungen zu sehen gibt.

Dieser Sturzbecher ist im Renaissance-Stil aus einem Glaskelch mit einer Korallenmontierung an einem Ende und einem Wappen gefertigt. Das Glasteil und die Montierungen wurden im 19./frühen 20. Jahrhundert gefertigt. Die Koralle und ihre Montierung stammen wohl aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Auf dem vergoldeten Metall-Wappen ist das eingravierte Jahr „1628“ zu sehen. Durch die Korallenmontierung am unteren Ende kann das Trinkgefäß nicht abgestellt werden. Accordingly, it was in use in elegant circles, so very valuable, richly adorned or figural depicted pieces as this one can be found in many museums and collections.

This is a glass cup with coral mount in Renaissance style from Germany. It appears that the glass parts and its mounts were made in the 19./early 20. century. The coral and its mount at one end, may originate from the 19th century. The gilded metal coat of arms, dated to 1628.
