Dieser rundum fein lithographierte Stollwerck Blech Sparautomat wurde um 1910 in Köln gefertigt. Der Sparautomat zeigt englische Beschriftungen und feine Darstellungen mit vier Putten, umrahmt von Rocaille-Dekor mit floralen Verzierungen. Die entzückenden Putti essen Schokolade und spielen an einem Sparautomaten. Oben ist der kleine Münzeinwurf, wobei man dann in der Mitte die Lade ausziehen und sich eine Schokolade nehmen kann – als Belohnung für das fleißige Sparen. An der Seite ist das Schlüsselloch zum erneuten Auffüllen des entzückenden Sparautomaten!

Der seltene Stollwerck Sparautomat ist in gutem Zustand mit Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren sowie etwas Farbabrieb jedoch überwiegend an den Rändern, teilweise an der Darstellung. Oben beim Giebel ist die Vorderseite minimal verbogen. Die Maße betragen 7,5 x 6,5 x 16,5 cm (Breite x Tiefe x Höhe). An der Unterseite im Relief gemarkt „Stollwerck, Cologne, Germany“. Der Schlüssel ist nicht beigefügt.

Stollwerck
Die deutsche Firma Stollwerck wurde 1839 von Franz Stollwerck in Köln gegründet und vor allem für die Produktion von Schokolade bekannt. Die Firma verblieb unter Familienleitung, die Söhne Franz Stollwercks erweiterten die Produktion mit weiteren Werken in Amerika und Europa. Schon 1887 stellte die Firma die ersten Automaten auf an denen ihre Schokolade verkauft wurde. Anfang der 1890er standen allein auf New Yorker Bahnhöfen über 4000 Automaten – diese wurden dann ebenso als Miniaturen gefertigt, so entstanden die berühmten und heute begehrten Sparautomaten.

This Stollwerck tinplate savings bank vending machine was finely lithographed all around and made around 1910 in Cologne. The savings bank vending machine shows English inscriptions and fine depictions of four putti framed by rocaille décor with floral embellishments. The charming putti are eating chocolate and playing with a savings bank vending machine. At the top there is a small coin slot whereby one can then open the drawer in the middle and take out a chocolate – as a reward for diligent saving! There is a key hole in the side to fill the charming savings bank vending machine anew!

This rare Stollwerck savings bank vending machine is in good condition with age-related traces of wear, as well as some colour loss, foremostly around the edges, partly in the depictions. At the top under the gable, the front is slightly bent. The dimensions are 7.5 x 6.5 x 16.5 cm (width x depth x height). Marked in relief on the underside “Stollwerck, Cologne, Germany”. The key is not included.

Stollwerck
The German company Stollwerk was founded 1839 by Franz Stollwerck in Cologne and is renowned above all for its chocolate production. The company stayed in the family, Franz Stollwerck’s sons enlarged their production with new sites in America and Europe. Already 1887 they set up the first vending machines from which their chocolate was sold. In the early 1890s there were already over 4.000 machines only in New York’s stations – these were then also created en miniature, thus the famous and now most sought-after savings bank vending machines were born.
